GLUTAMATE BIOSENSOR

Pinnacle offers a GLUTAMATE BIOSENSOR that is capable of providing real-time changes in glutamate concentration in the brains of rodents. The glutamate biosensor has outstanding performance characteristics and rejects all common electroactive interferents, including ascorbate. It has a linear range of at least 50 uM. We have successfully demonstrated that the glutamate biosensor works in vivo and can provide continuous monitoring of brain glutamate concentration changes for up to 36 hours. This biosensor is warrantied for 21 days from time of shipment.

Pinnacle's glutamate biosensor functions by the enzyme-mediated processing of the analyte of interest. This results in the production of hydrogen peroxide that is then detected by oxidation at a Pt-Ir electrode. Electroactive interferents present in the brain are excluded via a passive selective membrane and through active removal when necessary.

Pinnacle biosensors are selective for the analyte of interest and are linear at normal in vivo oxygenation levels over a physiologically relevant range, as shown in the diagrams below.

BIOSENSORS

Biosensors are purchased by cannula type and analyte of interest; carbon fiber sensors are purchased by cannula type. Pinnacle recommends the use of a guide cannula system for optimal results when implanting and recording from sensors in the brain of a freely moving animal.
